MCL Constuction 2018 Art Hawke's Bay ExhibitionBack to articles
The Art Hawke’s Bay committee is looking forward to the 2018 Exhibition, being held in the Cheval Room at the Hawke’s Bay Racing Centre, from opening night on Wednesday 21 March until Sunday 25 March. This annual event brings together works by members of art groups throughout Hawke’s Bay in one combined selected exhibition, during which the entries are for sale and afterwards through www.arthawkesbay.co.nz
During the exhibition a silent auction will be held to raise funds for Cranford Hospice. Donations of artworks and other prizes are being sort for the auction – contact Gina Guerin if you are able to help: firstname.lastname@example.org
Art Hawke’s Bay chairperson Hans Doevendans says, “From simple beginnings, the Exhibition has grown to display some wonderful art of a high standard. Its unique format of being an exhibition, a competition and an arts sale has proved to be successful. Last year, more than 25% of all displayed paintings and sculptures sold; evidence of the quality on display”.
This year’s theme is “Hawke’s Bay Captured”. The art categories are: Land, Water, People, Things that Grow, Structures, Movement and Open. The year’s exhibition will include two separate, special categories, one for sculpture and the other for secondary school students. The winners of all the categories will be announced on opening night and receive prizes of $250 each. Additional prizes will be awarded for Best in Exhibition, People’s Choice Award, a Special Prize and a Best of the Backroom Prize.
Opening night is from 5.30pm on Wednesday 21 March, tickets are $15. On the other days the exhibition is open there is no charge for visitors.
The exhibition is a non-profit event, funded mainly from local grant providers and sponsors. Art Hawke’s Bay is very appreciative of their generous support. We are delighted that MCL Construction Ltd is again our main sponsor. They are a long standing Hawke’s Bay company with an interest in supporting both local artists and charities.
More information will be on www.arthawkesbay.co.nz and on our Facebook page.
