A Message To You
Hello, I am Janice Byford-Jones, and I joined the amazing team at Cranford Hospice in November 2015.
Originally from London, I have been in New Zealand since 2001 and have had a connection to Hawke's Bay since marrying a local man in 2003.
The information on this website will inform you how you can access our services and support, or how you can donate to ensure everyone in Hawke's Bay has access to quality palliative care.
The services are at no cost to the patient. We are here not just for the last days of life - support is available as soon as you or your loved one has been told that a cure is no longer an option.
Hospice care is not just about pain medicine or physical problems. We provide holistic support, including practical assistance with what's involved in your changing life, such as food, equipment, finances, fears and bucket list achievements.
Anyone with a life-limiting condition can access our services.
You can also self-refer. Then, with your permission, we will contact your doctor to get the necessary information.
Whatever has drawn you here, know that we are here to support you. Like our founder, Dame Cicely Saunders, said:
"You matter because you are you, and you matter til the end of your life. We will do whatever we can to not only help you die well, but to also help you LIVE until you die."
Cranford Hospice CEO
Cranford Hospice was started by Presbyterian Support East Coast in 1982 and has grown from a volunteer-based service to being the recognised provider of specialist palliative care in our district, covering Mahia to Takapau.
Since 1 July 2017, Cranford Hospice is a stand alone charity.
